Stoneware, an off-white, opaque glaze based on local stones and pine ash. This glaze uncovers the bare, cinnamon claybody, especially on the rim and by the foot of the bowl – this is so-called "crawling" or "kairagi" effect. The claybody is a mix of local red clay and kaolinitic clay from Lower Silesia region – it has a warm, rustic feel.
Height: 8 cm
Diameter: 13 cm
This wheel-thrown tea bowl (chawan) is inspired by the serene beauty of Japanese and Korean tea traditions and the organic spirit of wabi-sabi. It was fired in a wood kiln for 24 hours to Cone 8 (~1250°C). Suitable for both hot and cold drinks, it is dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended.
