This classical, quiet chawan is inspired by the form of a rice bowl – with a relatively tall foot ring and a soft, S-shaped body line. It features a simple off-white glaze with delicate craquelure, formulated with local feldspar. The surface develops a beautiful patina from tea, allowing the bowl to grow more wabi-sabi and expressive over time. The light, sandy clay body gives it a pleasant, warm feel in the hands.
